This is classic Rioja and is actually aged for 18 months in oak and then six months in the bottle, this puts it in the Crianza category but with enough oaking to actually give it Reserva status. The blend here is Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo the latter two to add more complex flavours, the oak barrels it is aged in are new American oak to add hints of spice and cedar. On the nose there is a real aroma of spices, dark berries and barrels, the taste is in harmony with the fragrance and offer dark berries like blackberries, liquorice, a clear barrel character, spices and vanilla. A substantial acidity and pleasant astringency. A rich and complex wine for the money where your mouth is filled with delightful flavours with a long enjoyable aftertaste.
