Best known for their impressive reds especially their Chiantis and Super Tuscan red blends, Frescobaldi have been producing wine at the Villa di Remole, in the heart of Tuscany, for more than 700; it is at the heart of the Frescobaldi family history and tradition in the regions winemaking. We have tried their wines several times from the “entry level Super Tuscan” Remole Red to the complex Chiantis and Brunello’s they produce, the wines are always complex and elegant. The Remole Bianco is no exception, this superb white is an even mix of Vermentino and Trebbiano, Vermentino is best known further west in Liguria as well as Sardinia and the Trebbiano grape has long been an important grape in its native Tuscany, where it has been cultivated for wine production for over a thousand years; the secret to good Trebbiano is to prune it back to prevent over production. The juice is fermented and aged in stainless with an aim to retain freshness and crispness, and the result is superb value for money. The nose opens with intense fruits like pear and apple followed by floral scents and hints of nectarine, the palate follows through with white fruit and has a crisp acidity to finish.
