Product Details
The town of Salice Salentino in Puglia gets its name from the willow trees that once grew in its clay soil. The wines of the same name are produced beyond this one small town and the DOC area covers most of Brindisi and Lecce. Salice Salentino is made from at least 85% Negroamaro which is indigenous to the heel of Italy, here the blend is 90% with the other 10% being made up with Malvasia Nera which adds softer fruit flavours and fragrance to the fairly dense Negroamaro. Messer Del Fauno is an artisanal Italian farm in Puglia where the best local wines and olive oils are produced, in a similar way to the cooperative wineries of Southern France. The wine has intensive aromas of ripe cherries and berries with notes of eucalyptus and white pepper. The palate is juicy and fresh, strong and structural, with a good balanced acidity and round tannins giving a lengthy finish.
