The parent company Badet Clement owns some superb Burgundy domaines and the quest for perfection follows through their entire range. The winemaker at Les Jamelles is one of only a few women working in the wine trade “at the coalface”. Her family roots are in Burgundy and that is demonstrated by the complexity of this Chardonnay. The vineyards she uses are spread around the area between Beziers and Carcasonne, all of which are terraced at altitudes above 200 metres above sea level; this allows the cool evening breezes to infiltrate the vines as they grow. About a 1/3 of the wine is fermented in oak barrels to give texture and depth of flavour, the nose is full of aromas of apricots, pears and green apples. Following through to the palate there are well-integrated notes of vanilla oak, combined with a slightly lemony hints and touches of walnuts and hazelnuts and a slightly buttery finish.
