The wine is produced by a Bordeaux cooperative, Union de Producteurs de Saint-Emilion with members that produces wines from across the Appellation and it's satellite villages. This is a classic Bordeaux blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon along with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc from vines that are at least 25 years old, that means that there is an elegance and subtlety at the fore here. There is little oak involved in the ageing here, it is mostly stainless steel vats for fermentation and ageing to retain more of the fruit character. This is a rich, full bodied wine showing great concentration of flavour on the nose, plenty of dark black fruit with a slight edge of sweet red fruit. The palate has more of the juicy dark fruit of blackberry, plum and black cherry and backed up by a smoky wood character and earthy spiciness.
